BORNEO LESTARI FOUNDATION

Introduction

Borneo Lestari Foundation (BLF) was established in Kumai on October 6, October 2007 at the same time with the Ramadan 24 1428H with the intention of encouraging the care for the environment, protecting the natural heritages existing in Kalimantan particularly and contributing to the global movement for the environment.

The establishment of this foundation has been based on the awareness that the participation of the general community up to the policy makers is badly needed in maintaining the collective environmental health. This association is also expected to become a forum for organizing the community at the grass root level to participate in facing the environmental changes, channeling their aspirations to the policy makers serving the function of controlling policies which are not pro environmental preservation and considerations of local or global ecosystem health in the future.

Therefore, BLF will also focus on raising the awareness of the environment from the level of policies up to the action level which will be implemented in an integrated manner in mutual cooperation toward long term welfare.

BLF is aimed at developing the capacity of the civil society which is able to participate in developing a prosperous society in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution. In its actions, this association will also adopt a persuasive strategy and partnership in the effort of supporting the development and welfare of the people at large based on the scientific understanding and sustainable development.
